Labeling:
- This is what I think is the fun part of making milk carton turned into chalkboard paint herb pots! Using white chalk I just wrote the name of the herb on the outside. Since most of the herb names consisted of two words I wrote one word on one side and the other word on the opposite side.
More Recycled Crafts You'll Love
One of our favorite craft projects is making milk carton herb pots! If you've enjoyed creating these herb pots, we have a few more craft ideas that you might love.
For those who are looking to take their milk carton herb pots to the next level, we recommend trying your hand at making a hanging herb garden. Simply cut a few holes in the bottom of the milk carton, thread a piece of twine through, and hang your herb pot in a sunny spot. Not only will your herbs be easily accessible, but they'll also add a pop of greenery to your space.
If you're feeling adventurous and want to try a more advanced craft project, consider making a set of personalized plant markers to go along with your herb pots. You can use wood, clay, or even old spoons to create unique markers for each of your herbs. Not only will these markers help you keep track of your herbs, but they'll also add a touch of fun and whimsy to your garden.
For those who are looking for a seasonal craft project, consider creating a set of herb-infused oils or vinegars using the herbs grown in your milk carton pots. These make wonderful gifts for friends and family, especially during the holiday season. Simply fill a glass bottle with your favorite oil or vinegar, add a few sprigs of herbs, and let them infuse for a few weeks before gifting them.
We hope these craft project ideas inspire you to continue creating and exploring new ways to use your milk carton herb pots! Happy crafting!

I have to say these look gorgeous. I love the idea of recycling something so basic looking into a pretty and useful container that can grow herbs. I have a couple of concerns. Will these last if placed outside? And is it safe to plant something you will eat into a painted container?

Hello! That is a fair point. I am not sure if it is safe to eat something grown in a painted container. If you are still considering making this craft, you could line it with plastic bags or maybe just place these boxes on the outside of the plastic pots your herbs come in. Hope that helps! -Kaylee, FaveCrafts Editor
